Buying holiday gifts can be a challenge, but even the toughest giftees on your list will be happy to receive something that’s both whimsical and useful, functional and fashionable.

That perfectly describes a shopper that looks great with any outfit, and folds up neatly into a small bundle, to stow away in your briefcase or handbag when it’s not in use. And unlike socks or ties, a shopper is something nobody can have too many of. When all is said and done, isn’t shopping something we all do – in some form – every day of the year?

Not many shoppers can call themselves genuine works of art, but we know of one that actually can. Artist Randy Twaddle has electrified this shopper with his Power Lines design. Not since the 1970s hit song “Wichita Lineman” have power lines been so eloquent! And don’t worry if anything spills in or on your bag – it’s got a patented moisture barrier to prevent liquids from penetrating the fabric, so whatever you’re carrying won’t short-circuit.

Each week, Randy Rubin, co-owner of Crypton, features several articles or blogs that resonate with Crypton’s core goals: providing clean, beautiful design for everyday living.

Everyday living means life with kids, pets, and anything else that finds a way into your home. Below are just a few thoughts and ideas we are inspired by this month.

Making it Lovely : Nicole Bauch is the author of this décor blog and chronicles her journey to transform her “so-so house into a lovely home.” She does so with fun photos and a keen eye for style. Check out her post on installing a petdoor, where she shares a few musings on adapting the ideals of home design for the needs of everyday life.

Lonny Magazine: Packed to the brim with style and interior design, editor Michelle Adams and her team have created a truly innovative concept – an online magazine that feels like a printed one. Adams herself also blogs at M.A. Belle, where the topic of conversation often includes one of our favorite things – eco-friendly interior design.

Each month, Life on Crypton will begin showcasing a few blogs and articles from the previous month chosen by Crypton’s co-founder, Randy Rubin. “Randy’s Reads” will feature just a few of the ideas and inspiration running through Crypton these days. Enjoy!

style carrot Penned by freelance style writer Marni Elyse Katz, Stylecarrot.com provides design inspiration through large montages of photos – depicting interior spaces, art and objects. Check out her recent piece on the many uses of sheepskin rugs.

Eco-Stylista: Crypton prides itself in creating green and long lasting, sustainable products – we have extra appreciation for like-minded people. This simple blog showcases items
for ‘eco-conscious living’ with an emphasis on décor. Recently featured items? Wool throws, a “luxe laid-back dining room” and an organic bike.

“Pets on Furniture” This article from AtticMag picks up right where Julia Szabo left off in her AP column featured on our blog a few weeks ago. Alongside beautiful pet photography, the writer explores what it means to design a home with your pet in mind.

Sweet Paul Magazine : SweetPaul is a gorgeous lifestyle blog covering food, home décor and DIY crafts, and is run by Paul Lowe. He is expanding his online presence with the up-and-coming online magazine dedicated to the “theme of simple, elegant, stylishly easy”. The first issue comes out this spring – keep an eye out for it.
